Writing for COMMAND magazineThe purpose of COMMAND magazine is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in the U.S. Armed Forces. The objectives are to inform readers about OCF people and events, to teach them how to integrate Christian faith into family, professional and community life, and to encourage and inspire them to live as Ambassadors for Christ in uniform. OCF does not pay for articles printed in COMMAND, but we solicit submittals from members and readers which further the stated purpose and objectives. When considering writing for the magazine it is wise to examine articles which have been published in past issues. The following guidelines apply: Each issue of COMMAND will normally contain articles on the following topics: A. Ambassadors for Christ in the military. The purpose of such articles is to explore the many ways God has used and is using OCF members to serve as Christs ambassadors. Articles should relate how the Lord has used you and/or your family as His ambassadors in the military community. B. Military family life. Articles should explore how biblical truths lead to healthy relationships among husbands, wives and children. Testimony may be presented from the perspective of a child, a spouse, or a service member. C. Faith and the military profession. These articles should present biblical truths that relate to the military profession and seek to motivate officers to integrate these truths into their professional lives. D. The vision and work of OCF. Articles will present, clarify, and illustrate the fundamental vision of OCF. They may focus on overall vision and strategy, policies and governance, international aspects, etc. They should present what God is doing in and through OCF and its members. Submittal of ManuscriptsGenerally, it is best to use short uncomplicated sentences. Use simple terms and words which are easily understood. Use action verbs, and write in much the same way you talk.
