It’s CFC Time Again! (#10531)

Soon commands will begin gearing up for the annual CFC campaign. Having participated in these campaigns while on active duty, I’m familiar with the energy which will be put into the effort.

OCF benefits from the CFC campaign every year. In 2000 the CFC and United Way contributions amounted to eight percent of our total contributions received.

What can you do to help OCF receive additional contributions through the CFC campaign? Easy: spread the word about OCF.

Often, when faced with the many good organizations that participate in the CFC campaign, many people don’t know how to choose one. In some cases they may not designate one at all.

The CFC campaign gives you a chance to talk about OCF – what OCF is, what we do, and how people can be helped by OCF. You can talk to those with whom you serve and suggest they select #10531, OCF’s CFC number. Tell them how their contribution will be used throughout the military by Christian officers exercising biblical leadership to raise up a godly military!

But, while talking to people about their potential contributions to OCF is important, the real opportunity is to minister to those people.

How many times have you heard after the fact of someone who was having difficulty, yet you hadn’t known anything about it? You think later, "why didn’t I just ask?"

Well, here’s an opportunity. Here’s your chance to discuss OCF and find out in the process how you can minister to that person. Or, you may find their problem is in an area you can’t handle. But, maybe you can refer him or her to a chaplain or another person or organization that can meet the need.

I have a tendency to think the CFC campaign would be successful if we could raise a lot of money. However, I’m convinced that the Lord views it as a successful campaign when we use it to connect with others and meet their needs, thereby portraying Christ before the world.

So, here’s what needs to be done. whether you are directly involved in the local CFC campaign or not, talk about OCF to everyone you can. Tell them how their contributions to #10531 will impact the entire military community.

But most importantly, use CFC as a tool to get involved in the lives of those around you. Find out how you can meet their needs. Be a Christian officer exercising biblical leadership!
