Hawaii Pacific Region Midge & Spence Kawamoto
Midge and I met at the University of Hawaii. We got married in 1963, graduated, and commissioned through ROTC a year later. I spent twenty-eight years in the Army, retiring in 1992 while stationed in Japan. We have three married daughters, and three grandchildren - so great to watch them growing up together. We joined OCF in the DC area in 1978, and grew spiritually through our weekly OCF meetings to study God's Word. We learned from OCF leaders like Dick Kail, Jim Meredith and Clay Buckingham what it meant to be godly people and parents, and we caught a vision for what we could do - each of us - in ministering God's Word to the military community. I joined the OCF staff in October 1994, and served until June 1999 as the OCF staff associate for the National Capital Region (NCR). Midge and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there, were blessed, encouraged and enriched by all who faithfully co-labored with us there. However, as much as we loved the people in the NCR, we felt called to Hawaii, and relocated to Honolulu in June 1999 to coordinate OCF efforts in the Pacific. Our base of operations is Honolulu, which enables us to be near parents, siblings and friends. We want to thank you for loving us and supporting us. As you know, our ministry support comes from contributions of OCF members. Your generosity allows us to be available to the OCF Pacific community, and your prayers sustain us, and give us strength for ministry here. We're encouraged when we realize how many of you are standing with us. We truly could not be here without God's help and yours. We look forward to serving you, and partnering with you as we seek to share Christ within our respective military communities throughout the entire Pacific region. |
